As an Internet marketer, you are going to come to realize or you already have, that your database of e-mail addresses is one of the most important tools in your business system.

List building makes it possible to offer products and promotions to build your relationship with customers and add value to their lives and your own.

Internet marketers who are successful know that special free reports, webinars, consultations, and free trials of products are proven tactics for enticing visitors to leave their contact information.

When visitors leave their contact information the list building process becomes a win-win situation. Every information product that goes out under your name helps to build your brand as an online expert.

When visitors optin by choosing to enter their name and e-mail addresses on your website or sales page, they have now given you permission to start building a relationship.

An effective web site must do four things:

1. Sell products and services.
2. Build your brand.
3. Capture names and e-mail addresses of visitors.
4. Develop affiliate relationships.

Information products are the single most effective point of entry into the sales cycle. Why? Because they are ideal tools for:

1. Generating leads by driving traffic to your web site or squeeze page.
2. Building your brand as an expert and separating you from the competition.
3. Creating multiple revenue streams.

Having said that, once a visitor has given their contact information, it is up to you the Internet Marketer to treat members of your list building efforts with respect.

You should be providing could quality content in your follow up messages and suggesting or selling only products of high quality.
